Deadliest Catch: Cain and Abel

Oy, this show is going to kill me.

Before I get into the Phil stuff, I just wanted to say that Edgar can quit his whining any time now. I used to really like him, and now I realize that was because he wasn’t sober. Now that he’s sober, he’s just a miserable bastard. He needs to grow up, be mature about the situation, and make some kind of move.

Any reservations I had about Discovery continuing to film while Phil was in the hospital were erased when the cameraman walked into his hospital room and he gave the camera that silly wave and smile. It’s obvious that he wanted this story to be told.

Even though he looked terrible I just had to smile, especially when he grabbed the ice chip cup from Jake while he was distracted. Good ol’ Phil. Watching those scenes, you could see why they had hope that he would survive.

Once again, Jonathan Hillstrand surprises me. In fact, he was killing me last night, especially when he broke down. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it was a good thing he was there for the boys.

Next week’s 2-hour episode is going to be really, really tough. I loved how in the preview, instead of saying something like, “Next week, we say goodbye to Phil Harris”, Mike Rowe called it “Captain Phil’s last episode of Deadliest Catch”. Just typing that makes me tear up!
